Thrillers and Ties: Week 2 Delivers Down-to-the-Wire Drama in the Berks Summer Classic
Week 2 of the Berks Summer Classic picked right back up where it left off with two incredible matchups that came down to the wire!
In the night's first game, A. Moyer Masonry defeated Smokey Bones 5-2 in what was a close game until a late surge by AMM in the third period. The score was 2-1 for the majority of this matchup until Reed Hirneisen scored a short-handed goal, his second of the game, tying it up in the third period, but just a few moments later, Cody Rotkiske scored two goals to give their squad a late, two-goal cushion. Alec Moyer sent Smokey Bones packing with an empty netter, sealing a 5-2 victory, and still, an undefeated record for AMM.
Game two contained the first tie of the season between Verbero hockey Co. and Palacios Dentistry that ended with a score of 4-4. This was a close game from start to finish that featured back and forth scoring. Palacios Dentistry had the lead late in the third period, until an extremely clutch game tying goal by Verbero's Brandon Davis. Time ran out and the game ended a draw, awarding one point for each squad.
The Berks Summer Classic looks to ride the wave of intensity and excitement into week three with two more fierce matchups!
